The £10 Challenge: Day 1

Today the the start of my £10 challenge, an experiment I'm running to see if it's possible to survive for one week on just £10.

A crisp new £10 note for my challenge

Starting money : £10
Money spent today: £0
Money left: £10

Breakfast: Cereal, sultanas and milk.
Lunch: Pasta salad
Dinner: Rice, stir-fry veg and hoisin sauce.
Snacks: cereal bar, 2x weetabix with chocolate spread, 1/2 bar Galaxy.
Drinks: 1x roiboos tea, 4x  water.

So far so good then, as today I've managed to not spend any money- yey!

The pasta salad was left over from some I'd made for lunch yesterday, because I ran out of bread on Wednesday this week. The rice at dinner today was left over from diner yesterday, and the veg are from the freezer. It's pretty much been left-overs today

So far so good then; I haven't had to go shopping. However, because it's the end of the week I am now running short on a few things: bread, milk and fresh fruit/ veg being the most pressing, as well as a few other bit's a bobs, so it looks like a shopping trip for me tomorrow.

I should say that I am starting this week with some things in the store cupboard already, like chocolate spread, spices, pasta, rice, tomato sauce, jam and tea etc. In the fridge I have some cheese (which was 1/2 price because it runs out next week), some butter/spread and some tomato paste. In the freezer I have some frozen veg and meat.
I'm planning on being as £10-sufficient this week as possible, but I may dip in and out as needed.

As these things go I'm also short more than just food this week, just to make the challenge more, well challenging, I've also run out of moisturiser and deodorant- eek, I think these things might stretch my already tight budget... tune in tomorrow to find out!
