Chocolate and Hazelnut tart

While in Australia I saw Jamie Oliver make an almond jam tart. I can't find the original, but this tart incorporates the almond paste that inspired this recipe.

100g ground hazel nuts
100g butter, at room temperature
100g caster sugar
a few drops of vanilla essence
6 pre-made short crust pastry cases*
6 heaped teaspoons of chocolate spread e.g Nutella

Prep time: 10 min
Cooking time: 15-20 min

1. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C
2. Cream the butter and sugar together.
3. Add the ground hazel nuts and vanilla essence and stir well. The mixture will be quite thick, but you should be able to drop it from the spoon.
3. Place the pastry cases in a greased baking tray and add a spoonful of Chocolate to each case.
4. Spoon on the hazelnut mixture to the top of each tart and tap down.
5. Cook in the middle bottom of the oven for 15-20 min, or until the top is lightly golden brown. Keep an eye on the tarts while cooking as chocolate spread can burn.
6. Delicious served with ice-cream, cherry sauce or with a cup of tea.

* Pre-made pastry cases may feel like cheating, but they save a lot of time, and if you're serving them to guests you're guaranteed they will work every time.
